Gestational Diabetes

Gestational Diabetes is a serious medical condition that occurs in about 2-4% of pregnancies. In most cases, this situation will resolve itself after delivery; however appropriate medical supervision is required during pregnancy.

Gestational Diabetes occurs in women who do not have a prior history of diabetes, and in the vast majority of cases it will disappear after giving birth.

Gestational Diabetes is not easily preventable but maintaining a healthy lifestyle and appropriate weight gain throughout pregnancy is important.

One study links low vitamin C intake as a contributing factor in developing Gestational Diabetes.
